Q: What is your typical daily schedule?
A: The daily schedule provides carefully planned daily routines with a balance of activities.

  • Indoor/Outdoor
  • Quiet/Active
  • Individual/Small Group/Large Group
  • Large Muscle/Small Muscle
  • Child-initiated/Teacher-initiated

Here is a typical daily schedule:

Time Activities
6:30 – 8:30 a.m. Arrival; Free Play; Transition to assigned classroom; Greeted by Teacher
8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Exploration of and use of interest centers, indoors and out in own classroom group; circle time; music and movement activities; presentation of academic subjects as appropriate
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Juice and snack, short rest period as appropriate
11:15 – 11:30 a.m. Cleaning and straightening of classroom; quiet time; preparation for departure of half-day students; preparation for lunch for full-day students.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Lunch period; outdoor recess; preparation for nap
12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Nap period
2:30 – 5:30 p.m. Exploration of and use of interest centers, indoors and out in own classroom group and others; special activities including science, art, physical education
3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Juice and snack
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. Cleaning and straightening of classroom and playground areas; preparation for departure
6:00 p.m. Departure

Why Shining Stars?

Your child's safety

Your child's safety is our first concern. We have a state-of-the-art security system including cameras in each room and in the outside play area. Our playground and classrooms are secure and well-monitored.

Our Staff

This is the heart of our school. From our director Stacy to our teachers and aides, there is an atmosphere of Christian love and caring. Your child will receive individual attention but more importantly, individualized love.

Extended Hours

In addition to our normal preschool hours we open at 6:30 AM and stay open until 6 PM for your convenience.

Our Location

Situated at the edge of Lake Forest and Irvine near Bake Parkway and the 5 Freeway, we are very convenient for drop-off and pick-up.

Our Facility

We are housed in the beautiful new facility of the Orange County Church of Christ. We have new, up-to-date classrooms that are well-furnished and well-supplied. We have a large play area with a new playground that your child will love. We have a separate play area for toddlers.
